Did his prophecies come true?
Details: Joseph Smith made a prophecy on January 4, 1833 at Kirkland, Missouri that not many years the United States shall have bloodshed unparalleled in our history. This would include pestilence, hail, famine and earthquakes to sweep away the wicked to pave the return of lost tribes of Israel from the North Country. Those living at the time of prophecy would not die until the prophecy is fulfilled.
1. The unparalleled bloodshed in US history did not occur. The bar chart below shows US War Deaths and highlights the implication of this prophecy. There was some bloodshed which was predicted by secular press before Smith’s Prophecy.
2. Those living during this prophecy all passed away and did not see fulfillment.
3. Pestilence, hail, famine and earthquakes did not sweep away the wicked in 1833.
4. The “lost tribes of Israel” did not return from the North Country.
5. This prophecy failed.
